UHE Summit Málaga: Building Urban Hub Europe’s Future Together

Urban Hub Europe (UHE) has taken a decisive step forward from a shared vision to a shared plan of action. At our biennial Partnership Summit in Málaga, Spain, we focused on communication strategy, future EU projects, and funding opportunities. What began in 2023 as a cooperation between Bloxhub (Denmark), Nordic Edge (Norway), KIRAhub (Finland), Munich Urban Colab (Germany), ConTech (Denmark), Estonian Digital Construction Cluster (Estonia), and Smart City Cluster (Spain) is now moving ahead with a common platform and a clear direction. For cities, urban planners, and organisations working toward sustainable urban development, this growing partnership offers something powerful: access to an interconnected European network where expertise and resources are shared to accelerate the transition towards green cities.

UHE Summit in Helsinki

The biannual UHE Summit took place this year at KiraHub , which is part of the Maria 01 community. The focus of the event was a review of the joint activities of the past year and a discussion about future goals. Representatives of the various hubs exchanged views on successful projects, challenges and goals of Urban Hub Europe.

Network Kick-off

Urban Hub Europe was launched in January 2023, where all the partners met in Copenhagen to celebrate the unique partnership. The network partners signed a collaboration agreement, committing to share best practice across innovation systems, create free flow of member experts and knowledge across borders, connect each of the partner’s strength in joint programming and being the voice of urban innovative development in Europe.

UHE Summit 2023 - Estonia

SXSW 2024

At the SXSW 2024 we hosted an event exploring how to build an ecosystem for AI startups and how to collaborate with European innovators. We also shared insight on working with the Canadian ecosystem and updates from our own network and collaboration projects. 

UHE Summit 2024 - Nordic Edge Expo

We held our Summit in 2024 at the leading smart city event in the Nordics - Nordic Edge Expo. Here we gathered, held a workshop about testbeds in urban context and made meaningful connections at our stand.
